Buffing & Waxing

Keep your vessel looking its best while protecting its finish from the demanding marine environment. Chinn Marine offers professional buffing, polishing, and waxing services designed to restore shine, remove oxidation and surface imperfections, and provide lasting protection for your boat’s gelcoat and painted surfaces.

Our Services

Wash & Surface Preparation
Proper preparation is key to a quality finish. We thoroughly clean and prepare exterior surfaces before polishing or waxing to remove salt, dirt, grime, and other contaminants.

Oxidation Removal & Compounding
For dull, chalky, or weathered gelcoat, we use professional compounding and polishing techniques to remove oxidation and restore depth, color, and gloss. The level of correction is tailored to the condition of the vessel.

Machine Polishing & Buffing
Machine polishing helps correct light oxidation, haze, water spotting, and minor surface imperfections while bringing back a smooth, high-gloss finish.

Marine Wax & Protective Finishes
After polishing, we apply a high-quality marine wax or protective finish to help preserve the restored surface and create a barrier against UV exposure, saltwater, moisture, and environmental contaminants.

Maintenance Waxing
Routine waxing helps maintain gloss and prevents oxidation from becoming a larger restoration project. We can incorporate waxing and exterior finish care into an ongoing vessel maintenance program.

Why Regular Buffing & Waxing Matters

The Pacific Northwest marine environment can be hard on exterior finishes. UV exposure, saltwater, rain, pollutants, and extended periods outdoors gradually break down protective surfaces and cause gelcoat and paint to lose their shine.

Regular polishing and waxing not only keeps your vessel looking great—it helps protect the underlying finish and can reduce the need for more extensive correction down the road.

Customized to Your Vessel

Every boat is different. Before beginning work, we evaluate the condition of the finish and determine the appropriate level of correction and protection. From routine seasonal waxing to restoring heavily oxidized gelcoat, our goal is to achieve the best possible finish without unnecessarily removing material.
